1. This question involves explaining how professional etiquette can impact professional relationships. Consistently displaying proper etiquette is a reflection of one’s organization and can build or destroy business relationships. For this question, explain the importance of social behavior and share an example of a situation you have witnessed where someone’s behavior affected one or more professional workplace relationships—feel free to include positive or negative examples. Your response must be at least 250 words in length.
Professional etiquette is essential in the workplace to prevent external and internal conflicts. Professional etiquette is acceptable social behavior that requires employees and employers to display impeccable behavior in all their interactions amongst each other. Work environments where people observe the highest professional etiquette are usually more successful and productive. The reason is the fact that people in such environments find it easier to work with their colleagues. They treat each other fairly and with respect, and thus mutual co-operation is fostered. The employees thrive in such an environment, so much so that their productivity increases and their loyalty to the company is guaranteed in more instances than not.
Furthermore, clients are more likely to do business with companies that have a culture of upholding professional etiquette. Customers will feel respected in such companies, and they are more likely to continue doing business with such firms for the long term. Professional etiquette also helps in ensuring that the clients trust the company they are working with. Companies that demonstrate high levels of etiquette and professionalism are able to easily cultivate loyalty in their customers. Customer loyalty guarantees that the company stays profitable in perpetuity.
There was an instance during my summer internships that showed me the importance of professional etiquette. One of the other interns had made a grave mistake in the system, which affected all the day’s work. She was convinced that the supervisor would kick her out the minute he found out. However, the supervisor calmly explained how her mistake had affected the entire team’s work for the day. She pointed out that many interns and sometimes professionals make the mistake. She showed the intern how to reverse the mistake in the system. By the time the tutorial was over, the intern had regained her confidence and since then she was the most productive member of our team.
2. This question involves explaining how a professional can proactively approach career changes. Entrepreneurship remains vital to small business development. With 96.1% of all businesses categorized as a small business, the likelihood of you either being an entrepreneur or working for one is extremely high. For this essay, visit www.sba.gov and view the characteristics of and opportunities available for an entrepreneur. After reviewing the possibilities, state whether you have an interest in entrepreneurship. Then, explain how you could use the information on www.sba.gov to proactively approach career changes. Remember, your essay can take the position of actually being an entrepreneur or at least working with an entrepreneur. Your response must be at least 250 words in length.
I have a profound interest in becoming an entrepreneur in a field that I particularly excel in. However, I am a bit skeptical when it comes to my sales techniques. I have very limited experience in the field of sales, which makes me question whether entrepreneurship is the right fit for me. I am afraid that all my life savings would dissipate in the venture because I have never been good at attracting customers.
However, according to the article, it is common for most people to fear venturing into entrepreneurship due to the sales aspect. Most people shy away from sole proprietorship because they do not think they have what it takes to attract customers. They would rather stay employed where that part of the business process has been taken care of by the real professionals. Sadly, I fall into this category.
Luckily, the article points out some of the ways that entrepreneurs, especially the beginners, can confidently handle the sales part of their businesses. The article has helped me identify myself as a potential problem-solver when I enter into entrepreneurship. Thinking from the customer’s perspective makes it easier for entrepreneurs to deal with making actual sales. Therefore, my purpose as an entrepreneur would be to fulfill a customer need that is currently being met. Once I have a solution to a problem, then customers with said problem will come in plenty seeking for my services.
In addition, an entrepreneur is always good at what he is doing. Making sales and bringing in new customers will be easier if I convince my clients and myself that I am actually an expert in the field that I am in. The article also points out that I need to be constantly reviewing my chosen entrepreneurial activity to learn about the changes that are occurring in the sector. This will help me stay abreast with changing customer demands
